Bonding
Dental bonding is a restorative procedure that fills in decaying teeth with a composite resin (durable plastic) which is hardened with a high-intensity light that essentially “bonds” the material to the tooth. Composites are tooth-colored in order to effectively create a natural looking restoration in either the front or back of the mouth.
Dental bonding can produce one or all of the following results:
| » |
Repair decayed teeth |
| » |
Repair chipped or cracked teeth |
| » |
Lighten discolored teeth |
| » |
Close spaces between teeth |
| » |
Alter the teeth’s length or shape |
| » |
Protect the tooth's root if receding gums have exposed it |
Advantages (of veneering teeth with composite resins):
| » |
It's painless. Often, only minor drilling involved, so there is no need for a local anesthetic. |
| » |
It doesn't take much time. Several teeth can usually be veneered in one visit. |
| » |
It costs a lot less than crowns or porcelain veneers. Before direct veneering, crowns were the only way to improve the look of chipped, widely-spaced or discoloured teeth. |
| » |
It can be used on children, because bonded material can be removed and replaced as children's teeth grow. |
| » |
The bonding substance used to adhere these fillings into your tooth will strengthen your tooth and provide you with restorations which can last between 10-12 years. |
| » |
It's a quick, painless, and affordable way to drastically improve one's smile! |
