Invisalign

Invisalign improves the appearance and functionality of your teeth without the harsh commitment to the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces.

Invisalign is a sequence of clear plastic aligners that slowly work to maneuver your teeth into proper position and alignment without anyone being aware of it.

Invisalign can be used to correct a variety of dental problems such as the following:

  • Widely spaced teeth
  • Overbite/Overjet
  • Overly crowded teeth
  • Crossbite
  • Simple malocclusions
  • Mild relapse (for cases in which a patient has already previously undergone traditional braces, but the teeth have slightly moved)

Invisalign is a great way to improve the appearance and functionality of your teeth without the harsh commitment to the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces. Invisalign is a sequence of clear plastic aligners that slowly work to maneuver your teeth into proper position and alignment without anyone being aware of it.

Invisalign is the leading orthodontic appliance today as its clear plastic aligners are less than a millimetre in thickness and can be removed at the patient’s convenience for eating, drinking, as well as brushing and flossing. Invisalign allows you to undergo treatment to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted without sacrificing aesthetics. These aligners may even be removed for special occasions!

How Invisalign Works

Once your dentist has determined you a candidate for Invisalign, your treatment will consist of a series of customized aligners that will work to move your teeth into their ideal positioning. Typically the aligners will be changed about every two weeks.

During the time that you wear them, each aligner will work to gradually move your teeth about .25 to .35 millimetres at a time. Although these aligners can be removed for your comfort, successful treatment requires them to be worn at least 20 hours a day. Invisalign will not move your teeth from inside the tray. A complete case will generally consist of 20 to thirty aligners. The average course of treatment for an adult patient is less than one year.

Invisalign is a terrific solution to achieve a radiant smile. However, it is important to remember that the aligners are only able to work if you are wearing them as directed by your Polar Dental specialist. It is recommended that patients should only drink water while wearing their aligners to prevent any possible staining that may occur to the plastic.

There are some cases in which invisalign may not be suited for. Your candidacy for invisalign treatment can only be determined by your dentist. For cases that do not qualify for invisalign, traditional braces may be implemented to correct the following issues:

  • Skeletal malocclusions
  • Crowding/spacing more than five millimeters
  • Severely rotated teeth
  • Open bite in the back and front of the jaw
  • Upper and lower jaws that are missing teeth
  • Severely tipped teeth

Invisalign can help you on your way to the Hollywood smile you’ve always wanted. Improve the look and functionality of your smile without sacrificing aesthetics in the process. This virtually invisible orthodontic treatment is clear, comfortable, hassle free as you can eat, brush and floss as you normally would!
